For something truly special, book in at the Library & Archive for some rare and ancient treasures, such as a Second Folio edition of Shakespeare’s plays.

Find fairies at Canonteign Falls

Lose yourself in the peaceful walks, waterfalls and playgrounds of Devon’s stunning natural attraction, Canonteign Falls. A firm favourite among local families, marvel at the South-West’s highest waterfall and climb up through the ancient woodland to find panoramic views of the Devon countryside. Catch an Exeter Chiefs rugby match

When it comes to sports, Devon’s capital has plenty going for it. But while Exeter FC and Exeter Racecourse hold some appeal, we recommend heading to Sandy Park to catch the Exeter Chiefs. Both the men’s and women’s teams play top-flight rugby, and a thrilling encounter is all but guaranteed. The Men’s team has a glittering trophy cabinet featuring the Anglo-Welsh cup and the European Rugby Champions Cup. And while the Women’s team was only formed in 2019, they are already a force to be reckoned with.

Discover local history at Powderham Castle

On the banks of the River Exe, this Grade I listed English manor house has stood for over 600 years, housing the Courtenays - the Earls of Devon. The 18th Century marble hall, mahogany staircase and Neoclassical Music Room are highlights in a stately home that embodies a living history of the area. Stroll the landscaped grounds and Deer Park, wander the Rose Garden and catch a blacksmith working in the Forge. There’s also plenty of play areas and activities to get stuck into.
